Harriet’s Hamburgers Opens Plaza Midwood Location

Where’s the beef? You can now find one of my favorite burger spots in Charlotte, Harriet’s Hamburgers, in Plaza Midwood. This new location officially opened Tuesday, March 3 and serves as another locale to order the popular double-patty smash burgers, crispy fries and more.

This new Harriet’s Hamburgers restaurant has all of the menu items you enjoy at Harriets’ other locations, including Optimist Hall and The Bowl at Ballantyne.

Voted Charlotte’s “Best Hamburger” by the Charlotte Observer, Harriets’ smash burgers start with 100% premium angus beef. From there, diners can choose between The “OG” Hamburger, with white American cheese, crinkled pickles, onions and Simple Sauce, or The Royale, with yellow American cheese, crinkled pickles, iceberg lettuce, tomato, onions and Good Good Sauce. Each burger is served on a soft French milk bread bun.

No burger meal is complete without a side. I always opt for the crispy fries, but Harriets’ menu also includes cheese curds that offer the perfect pull (so have your phone ready). Both are cooked in beef tallow to achieve maximum crispiness. Dip your side in one of the signature house-made sauces. My personal favorite is the garlic rosemary aioli.

Wash your food down with one of the Boylan craft sodas, made with pure cane sugar and natural flavors as opposed to high-fructose corn syrup. I’m not a huge soda drinker anymore, but you can certainly taste the difference in quality which is why I always get an orange soda with my food. Other beverage options include the agua frescas made with seasonal fruits and, for those 21 and older, the light and refreshing Lucy’s Lager and frosé.

If you like a sweet treat, order Henry’s Monster Cookie. This cookie is filled with oats, peanut butter, M&Ms and chocolate chips. Don’t feel guilty for indulging your sweet tooth; with every cookie purchased Harriet’s makes a donation to Halfway There Rescue.

Harriet’s Hamburgers has certainly grown from its food stall at Optimist Hall. This new sit-down restaurant offers indoor seating, as well as on the covered patio. I recommend the high-top, streetside seating, overlooking Pecan Avenue, to enjoy some people-watching with your burger.

The newest restaurant is located beneath The Rowe at Commonwealth. Street parking is always an option in Plaza Midwood, however, there is also a paid parking garage with entrances on Pecan Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue. Just picking up carryout? Park for free in one of the designated 10-minute spaces on Commonwealth Avenue.

Harriet’s Hamburgers is located at 1711 Commonwealth Avenue #180.
