Bachelorette Party Pour Decisions

How a Weekend with Canned Wine and Good Friends Led to the Perfect Pre-Quarantine Getaway

If you would’ve told me five months ago that the entire world would be disrupted due to COVID-19, I would’ve looked at you like you were crazy. In early March, we were starting to hear about coronavirus and the very few cases in the U.S. Blissfully unaware, I packed my bags, boarded a plane and mentally prepared myself for my friend’s bachelorette party.

My friend, Jaynina, wanted to celebrate her upcoming nuptials with an overnight cabin stay in Ohio’s Hocking Hills, then a day-time shuffle in our college town of Athens, Ohio. Before leaving, I made sure to pack all of the essentials: my colored wig for the bar crawl/Court Street shuffle, my toothbrush and, of course, my favorite canned wine.

I’ve been preaching the joys of canned wine for the last year, and I was excited to share that passion with my friends. Before the trip, I reached out to House Wine to see if they could provide some of their products for the bachelorette party. They hooked me up with my favorite wine varietal, rosé, in both sparkling and flat, along with more fruitier offerings such as House Wine’s canned Sangria and sparkling Grapefruit Spritz. I was eager for my friends (and myself) to crack open a can and toast to the weekend.

Stronger than a hard seltzer, House Wine canned wines are the perfect sipper for any occasion—the best part is that they don’t leave me feeling as bloated and heavy as beer does.

When we arrived at the cabin, I opened up my suitcase and showcased my goodies—several of House Wine’s refreshing varietals. I did my best Vanna White impression as I took out the cans and explained the tastes and ABV of each. My friends were surprised to hear that one can of House Wine is the equivalent to half a bottle of wine.

The portability of House Wine, and lack of glass, made it safe and easy to enjoy my wine while chatting on the couch or in the hot tub overlooking Ohio’s rolling hills. We played some drinking games on the first night, which caught up to me very quickly. By morning, I was ready to be revived with some eggs accompanied by a mimosa made with House Wine Brut Bubbles.

I’ll spare you all the details of our bar crawl down Athens’ Court Street; you know what they say, “what happens in Athens, stays in Athens.” I look back fondly on this weekend. I am so glad I got to have an amazing trip filled with laughs and some drunken debauchery with my friends, mere weeks before the whole country went on lockdown.

Now that the world is slowly resuming some sense of normalcy, I’ve noticed many are rescheduling plans that were put off in spring and early summer. If those plans include a bachelorette party (or any other celebration for that matter), I hope you decide to dip your penis straw in a can of House Wine.
